The Drive Street Band is a community band based at the Britannia Community Centre at Napier Square & Commercial Drive. We are a not for profit organization and have been sharing our music at events throughout Vancouver and the lower mainland since 2009.
We play a variety of music from jazz, dixieland, old timey tunes, latin, tango and some funk too! We welcome anyone interested in joining this community band. We includes musicians of all ages from youth to the 55 plus group. You need to be a proficient sight reader or play well by ear. You also need a good sense of rhythm, good attitude, able to take directions and an instrument that can be taken out for a stroll. You require some comfort with learning songs from sheet music or by ear.
If you are organizing a festival, parade, party, wedding, or other events requiring lively musical entertainment, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Led by Cory Sweet on Helicon & Mike T Allen on Bass. Other guest leaders include Trevor Whitridge on Trumpet.
We rehearse at the Britannia 55+ centre most Sundays from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. There is a sliding-scale suggested donation of $2 to $5 that goes directly to keeping this community band going. Members do not get paid.
Contact band organizer: Trudy Ann Tellis if you are interested in joining.
